It just checks image alt text for keywords. No AI weirdness.

If it is approved it will be available at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/uglymug/. I don’t plan to submit it to the Chrome extension store but anyone is welcome to copy the code and do so.

Meanwhile if you’d like to try it out before it’s approved (trust me bro) you can get the extension from https://we.tl/t-VZw12WGo7q and then unzip the contents into a new folder.

Installation Instructions:

For Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions/
  2. Enable “Developer mode” (toggle in top right)
  3. Click “Load unpacked”
  4. Select the folder where you unzipped the files to.

For Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox and navigate to about:debugging
  2. Click “This Firefox”
  3. Click “Load Temporary Add-on”
  4. Select the manifest.json file

I’ve just uploaded version 1.1 which will work on FF mobile. Give it a couple of days to be approved.

Thank you! Now I’m using the older (desktop) version on my mobile FF and it works like a treat. Even filters tRump in Google news app somehow.
