Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What to you, is always a losing battle?
1·1 day agoFine, but it’s pretty obvious that if you take money away from people that have been reliant on it not to starve, you’re going to have people starving.
Feynman actually did try to explain it, and could do the math and other work to show why magnets attract one another. Having watched the Todd in the Shadows video about Miracles, I kind of find the question wholesome - he’s not asking out of willful ignorance, but rather that it’s something he knows is beyond his grasp but amazes him (and wants to share that joy in the world with his kids and family).
Trump is just willfully ignorant and small-minded.

51·3 days agoI feel like “ai generated” music when it’s not lyrical isn’t such an awful thing - ambient sound and the like. I mean, music may not be mathematically solved yet, but we’ve certainly had music-generation algorithms for decades, and there’s no real harm in that. There’s a time and a place for a human to create art, and times for artificially created pleasant sound.

21·3 days agoI was going to say what you did. I’m more conservative than a lot of people in the Fediverse, but the way things are going, I’m sliding toward liberalism again. There’s a lot of stuff where I think the conversation needs to be boiled down to extremes: Will you help people, or will you harm them? You don’t have an option of inaction - inaction is harmful. If you have the power to help another person, you should be under a moral imperative to do so. And right now, I see a lot of conservatives who sugarcoat things, and fail to realize that the people they’ve picked to represent them see the cruelty as the point.

I’m sorry, what?
