Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•When we eat the billionaires, we should spare Gabe Newell? No?
233·6 days agoOh, everything.
Got a $20m yacht? Sell it. Oh, youcre forced to sell it for $50k because nobody will give you more? That’s just the free market, clearly it’s only worth $50k.
Paid $75m to build your house? Well someone is offering you $175k and you’d better take it.
And you own a company worth $100m? No you don’t, it was already taken from you and turned into a worker-owned co-op.
After all the sales and seizures, you’ve got $23.1m in cash, and just 1m more in the bank? OK, dude, we cool.

(a) Give away everything except, say, 25 million.
(b) Guillotine.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do people in cities have fun without spending money at every turn?
1·2 months agoThe trick in cities is to know things and people.
Know the guy with the swimming pool.
Know the woman who runs yoga in the park every Thursday.
Know when the museums have free or discounted events for the locals.
Know where the buck-a-slice pizza joint is - the one two blocks from your apartment that’s almost tucked into an alley at the bottom of a brownstone’s side stairs, and that most people would just walk past without noticing.
Cities have lots of free and cheap things, you just need to be a local to find a lot of them.
