Socialism is a buzzword that has been used in the US to attack anything remotely progressive that’s happened in the last century.

When Social Security and the New Deal programs were introduced, they were called socialism

When the voting age was lowered to 18, it was called socialism

When the FMLA was passed, it was called socialism.

It’s literally just a word that Republicans who don’t want to support our communities use instead of just flat out admitting that they’re anti human

It already has more gay and trans people than any other city in the US by numbers. Now they just need some socialism!

Talking seriously, from a “centrist” point of view, worrying about that a “gay trans sociallist hellscape” makes no sense seeing how easy is for the right to get to power no matter how crazy it seems.

It’s funny how they’re trying to paint him as a communist revolutionary or something, and in the process, just making him look even cooler.

If we don’t attempt democratic socialism then capitalism will bring absolute poverty to the economy (we’re already so close, but people aren’t eating leather yet), which will lead to revolt, rebellion, and lots of death. Then a most likely scenario will be Communism, where things will likely look good at first, then quickly fall backwards. Then more revolt, then fractured states. We’re about 50 years away from being the Northern States of America, with all kinds of squabbles, different laws, sketchy trade deals, etc. All this will likely end in the worst scenario: Texas is claimed by Mexico and Texans will all be refugees fleeing to other states.

Dude I think you’ve been drinking a little too much of the kool-aid, none of those scenarios would actually happen even within 50 years. Absolutely no way zero. If you think Mexico would become a more successful State than any part of the United States then you really are smoking some good shit. And the United States devolving to Communism within 50 years that is not even going to happen not even a little not even anyway no way no how.

IKR, it’s gonna happen much sooner. The way things are going right now, it will only take 10-20 years.

Even then, 20 years is very generous and it could be much less. It took only a few years for Germany to become fascist. History taught us that governments and ideologies can change VERY quickly.
