Hypocrisy is baked into fascism, so unfortunately it has no effect to catch them in it.

It has been said some time ago that “conservatism” (aka fascism) “consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect”.

I don’t know the context but he could be calling out hypocrisy of some event that prides itself on DEI not having any white representation out of a hundred.

Some (i assume American) would have to explain the context to me if that is not the case.

Here is some context. This person is complaining about a private organization choosing to contract out a performance to a celebrity who choose a theme to highlight black people or to tell a black story.

Here is statistical context usa is 14% black. The NFL is approximately 70% black. White people are around 60% of the US population. Generally speaking sports are merit based. Generally speaking all Pop culture things are influenced, inspired, and sometimes down right stolen from black cultures.

Small article quote "only 11% had a creator of color and 25% had a female creator. White men made up 77.3% of all show creators, and only 14.8% of their shows featured underrepresented stories.

White men also accounted for 46.3% of all TV deal recipients last year.

Additionally, just 14.3% of lead actors had a known disability and there were no female creators who were Latina, Native or Middle Eastern and North African and zero Native or Middle Eastern and North African female leads or co-leads in the included streaming series." https://www.thewrap.com/ucla-hollywood-diversity-report-2024-streaming-series-white-leads/

Essentially there needs to be a strong reversal for a LONG Time for any program to be anywhere controversial. Highlighting untold and often ignored stories is good.

DEI is not about having quotas for X amount of every group even though people like to spout that nonsense. It’s about removing hurdles that people may have that may seem innocuous

For example if a job that is done fully remote is requiring people to interview in person a DEI analysis would look at that and say that’s not very inclusive of the disabled who may struggle to do the in person interview even though they can perform all the duties of their job with their disability so we should offer remote interviews

Like all other initiatives that start off fine, you also do just end up with some upper manager who tells some random middle manager with no experience to make things more DEI and that middle manager does some stupid shit

Pretty sure it was Kendrick’s half time show. Because Kendrick is Kendrick, yeah, no shit there’s not going to be a ton of white people. Didn’t go through the lineup or anything, but I don’t think that white people were the only ones excluded either. But he doesn’t care about the lack of Japanese people in the lineup. It’s just another guy that’s normally complaining about DEI, and in this scenario, it really seems like he’d like it, which is hypocritical.

DEI isn’t a hiring quota. That’s a widely held misconception. It’s purpose is to identify hidden biases and expand oppurtunity. Employers may run outreach or mentorship programs, and set realistic goals to give under‑represented folks better access to hiring consideration, while still ultimately hiring based on merit.
