That data is about as personal as someone sitting in a park keeping a tally of how many people with a blue jacket walk by. “Somebody posted a comment on lemmy” is not the same as “@elbucho@lemmy.world posted a comment on lemmy”.
Particularly if you opt out (as I have) and no tally mark is added for you.
Als ich als Student einen QA-Nebenjob gemacht hab, bin ich durchaus aufgefallen. Dem Teamleiter sehr positiv, einigen der Kollegen weniger…
Highlight war ein Problem mit dem Login, wo ich dann selbst auf Käferjagd gegangen bin und so ganz nebenbei eine Sicherheitslücke gefunden und geschlossen hab bevor sie auffällt.
Ach, und die Barrierefreiheit der Anwendung hab ich fast im Alleingang aus der Gosse gezogen. Das ist aber tatsächlich niemandem aufgefallen – weder den Usern, die es nie vermisst haben, noch den Entwicklern, die bei BITV überlegen ob es mit Computern oder mit Bier zu tun hat, noch dem Prüfer der gar nie gesehen hat wie grottig das vorher war.

The “too important to reprimand” issue is why power corrupts and why Justitia is stylised with a blindfold. Letting things slide with some, but not with others, will create tension and lead to arguments why it’s fine when that other guy does it. You’ll end up with a bad apple, who may end up spoiling the bunch, or at least a few other apples. The people worth keeping around will accept the reprimand with no hard feelings.
Granted, the acclaim of being a frequent poster might not quite stack up to the level of power where that becomes a frequent issue, but that’s a difference in magnitude, not character.

Ein Hoch auf Betriebsräte.
Ich mach interne Data Analytics (sprich: Auswertungen zu internen Betriebsabläufen um Prozessfehler oder Probleme zu entdecken und verbessern), wo die Abgrenzung zur Leistungsüberwachung kritisch ist. Mehr als einmal musste ich dem BR erklären was ausgewertet wird und auf welcher Granularität.
Die meisten Manager machen eh einen Bogen um das Thema. Manchmal gerät das aber doch in die Nähe, und da sind die echt kritisch. In einem Fall hab ich einen Mailverlauf weitergeleitet bekommen, in dem auf die Beschreibung des Auftraggebers erst ein “Da müssen wir bitte darüber reden”, dann eine korrigierte Form der Anforderung kam bei der einige Parameter eingeschränkt wurden. Ein anderes Mal hab ich eine Anfrage der Form “Wer hat X” an den BR verwiesen und nie wieder was gehört.
Wenn ich erwähnen, dass was am BR vorbei muss, werden oft Parameter geändert um das zu vermeiden. Soll mir recht sein. Lieber zehn Fragebögen und einmal den Riegel vorgeschoben bekommen als einmal ungeahnt Überwachung zu ermöglichen.
Gründet Betriebsräte. Sie machen mir das Leben schwer, um euretwillen.
One client has a whole solution from me and occasionally keeps asking for this or that thing and I have to tell him what part of the app already does that because he can’t keep track of all the things he’s asked for already.
If I had the time, I’d use the benefit of hindsight to restructure the whole thing and hope it’d help his pea brain along, but as it is, I spent too long just adding features wherever he asked me to, without taking the time to question whether that makes sense.
He’s not even in office yet and already knocking it out of the park and halfway across the city.
I just hope that trajectory continues.
